Why everyone hates email marketing

Most of us think of marketing emails and go… nup, not for me.

Immediate dismissal.

Is it that you hate marketing emails or is it that you personally sign up to too many places you don’t actually invest in for a quick discount you never use and have no organisation of your own emails ?

I love receiving marketing emails because the places I share my email with, don’t just sell to me.

I learn things.

But also I love being sold to by a business that knows what they’re selling to me is in genuinely going to be good for me.

So, actually, I love emails. I love receiving them and I love creating them, for my own business and the commercial businesses Femme Media takes care of.

Emails are a high end experience in our world.

Both the ones we receive and create.

They feel squeaky clean, they’re enjoyable and creative.

Each email brings its own unique essence and speaks to people in an entirely new way. And tbh, just love them. They’re so much more personal than social media or a website.

And so, we want to take you on the journey of marketing emails, and show you how this is something you can incorporate into your own marketing strategy for your businesses. There are many ways to use this channel of marketing, so I invite you to enter this program with an open mind, ready to receive the different ways you can utilise email marketing and really leverage it in your business.

First things first, let’s clean up our energetics. Squeaky clean energy is our first priority before we create something, no matter what it is. I need my emotions, feelings, energy and intention to be in the right place before I take action on something.

So, having squeaky clean energy from the get go, and in our email marketing is essential.

Squeaky clean energy: Before we think of all the ways we can create marketing emails and the different strategies we can use, we need to have something straight. We need to be clear about what we want to do in the email.

So this means, we need to decide before we even start creating, and be clear about whether or not we want to directly sell to people, if we want to connect with them, if we want to tell stories, if we want to provide and be in service like giving facts, value or free resources or information. We need to decide that to begin with.

Why? Because we need to have a clear intent. This is where a lot of marketing goes wrong. We want to tell a story, but its not received because we are all icky with wanting to tell a story in the hope that someone will buy. And then we get annoyed that no one bought. This is how we also avoid subtle manipulation tactics, that feels icky.

Its like giving to someone in the hope of getting something immediately in return.

Have you ever had a friend that only wanted to hang out with you because she got something from you immediately in return and didn't just genuinely love your company ? We all have. It just doesn't feel right does it.

But imagine a friend that wants to get coffee with you because she hasn't seen you in so long and just wants to hear all about your life updates, and she is happy to just sit and listen to you talk and being in your company with nothing to take from you.

We can do this with marketing emails. The difference is in how we communicate it and write it. Also in the call to actions we use. For example, telling a story to connect with your audience in your emails to the audience, and then providing a free resource to be of service to them and their journey, is squeaky clean. But telling a story to connect and then pretending not to sell or to them after it is icky.

Another example of squeaky clean marketing emails is creating great marketing copy to directly sell to them. Perfect. Add in the strategies, the call to actions and all the selling tactics if it makes you happy. That's squeaky clean.

But a lot of businesses do the whole ‘how can I sell without feeling salesy’.

The problem lies in you selling while pretending not to sell.

That's icky and its not coming from a squeaky clean place, so no wonder its not working. Have the intention to directly sell and capture leads…that will capture leads.

But trying to sell while pretending not to be ‘salesy’ is ruining the sales.

This is where I would recommend a program like the art of selling, in Momentum our marketing membership, for how incredible it is in untangling your relationship to sales.

And then, when it comes to you wanting to directly connect with people just for connection purposes without trying to take or get anything from them, you do that!

That's when you can tell stories and they can actually connect with people.

Isn't that so cool? So to nail email marketing, we need to be squeaky clean in our intent from the beginning.

Next, we have a lot of different platforms we can utilise for email marketing, both free and paid ones, which you can access in The Lost Art of Email Marketing in our marketing membership, Momentum.

Next, the strategies.

There are a lot of different approaches we can take to email marketing, and they are so much fun.

Approach 1: storytelling

Approach 2: sell like crazy method - finding deepest primal desires and speaking to them. As well as the deepest pains and bringing them to light.

Approach 3: problem solving. Simple and effective. Clear for the audience. Squeaky clean.

Approach 4: visionary marketing. Luxury brand style marketing. Creating a feeling and mostly intuitive.

You can unlock these strategies in more depth, in The Lost Art of Email Marketing in our marketing membership, Momentum.
