Going viral is a scam.

I've had a bee in my bonnet about businesses attempting to go viral for a while. 

I mean years. 

And the reason for this is…

You will be forgotten about, just as quickly as your video hits the algorithm. 

Do you truly remember anyone who was viral last month? Or do you remember the business who has content going out every single day? 

Rather, steady growth and building continual trust is more important than going viral overnight. 

Going viral means a high amount of short term viewers.

Viewers do not mean buyers. 

They say with marketing, 20% of your audience buy. That’s because that 20% of people, already know they have a problem, they are ready for a solution and that's when they find you, follow you (or not), and make the move to invest. 

But there’s a huge chunk of the audience left. 80%. And 80% of your audience don’t actually know they have a problem that needs solving. So your marketing is not to sell to the 20% in your audience who know what they want. This is already a no brainer for them. 

Your job is to analyse the 80%. What do they need? And, sell to the 80% who have no idea that whatever problem your business solves, is a problem for them. 

And they need to be brought aware of these problems, to be able to invest. 

This is why you don't need a lot of followers to have buyers. It’s basic psychology and human behaviour. 

Marketing is a psychological process, and buying, on the other end, is also a psychological process. I could speak about the buyer all day, as in a marketing situation, the buyer is the one in the dynamic who holds the power. 

And that’s great, we need to actually give the buyer the power. 

We need them to feel empowered and secure in their buying decisions, and we need our marketing to make the buyer feel good about themselves and their investments. 

More on this in another blog. But for now, focus on that 80%.
